Reading is a Thrill at Woodrow Wilson!

Thank you to all who attended our fourth annual Read, Write & Share Day and visited the Book Fair Carnival in the gym today. Students chose books to purchase, had their faces painted (ringmaster mustaches were a popular choice), had souvenir photos taken on the Read-a-Coaster, created sand art, and won prizes at the Book Walk and Strong Man and Woman Contest. It was a thrilling day for students to celebrate reading with their families!

A special thanks to everyone who took the time to complete our Family Survey. We value your input and will use it to strengthen our home-school connection. Thank you for your support!

Students Caught Reading

Students are busy reading in preparation for Read Write & Share Day. During our first week, students read a total of 401 books towards our schoolwide goal of 2,000. Also three lucky students -- one from each grade level -- who were "caught reading" won a stuffed gorilla and a gift certificate to our upcoming Book Fair Carnival. Congratulations, students!

Library Club Holiday Parties

During our holiday parties last week in after school Library Club, members decorated cookies and enjoyed hot chocolate, played games, and created crafts such as Rainbow Loom bracelets, duct tape projects, friendship bracelets, boondoggle, drawing and origami. Students consulted library books and taught each other how to make different crafts. Materials for all these projects will be available during our next Family Library Night on Wednesday, January 8th from 4-6pm for all students to enjoy with their families. Library Club members will also be available to assist with various projects. We hope to see you there!
