Local Author Visits WW

Zoie, a third grade student at WW, and her father, cooked up a magical story called How to Make a Butterfly from Scratch, which explains just what ingredients are needed and the perfect way to combine them to make a beautiful butterfly. Zoie and her father wrote the story, added illustrations created by local artist Jessica Saddleson, and published the children's book How to Make a Butterfly from Scratch. You can find out more about the book at www.ButterflyRecipe.com.

Third grade students learned about Zoie and her father's inspiration for writing the book, and the writing and publishing process when Mr. Kin visited our school on May 22nd. Third-graders prepared for Mr. Kin's visit by reading the book in library class and taking an AR quiz. Then, they created their own handprint butterflies from scratch to welcome Mr. Kin to our school.

WW Rocks on Read, Write & Share Day

As part of our third annual Read, Write & Share Day on May 17th, students and family members visited the "Rock & Read" book fair in the gym. Students choose books to purchase, had their faces painted, had souvenir photos taken, sang karaoke, and won prizes at "name that tune" bingo. Thank you to all who attended and make this year's book fair ROCK!
