Recognizing Top Readers

Thank you to all the families who joined us on Friday, June 6th to honor fifteen more students who earned 150 total AR points so far this year. Congratulations, students, You're the Tops!

On Wednesday, June 11th, thirty-five students attended a special “Breakfast with the Principal” for earning 200 points or more, the highest recognition level in our AR program. This was the most students that we have ever had attend this event! We traveled again this year to Monkey See, Monkey Do... Children’s Bookstore in Clarence, where students enjoyed breakfast, learned how to "write for their dreams" from local children’s author Tim O'Shei and selected a book of their choice (which many students began reading on the bus ride back to school). It was a special and memorable event to recognize our most enthusiastic and dedicated readers.

Reading is a Thrill at Woodrow Wilson!

Thank you to all who attended our fourth annual Read, Write & Share Day and visited the Book Fair Carnival in the gym today. Students chose books to purchase, had their faces painted (ringmaster mustaches were a popular choice), had souvenir photos taken on the Read-a-Coaster, created sand art, and won prizes at the Book Walk and Strong Man and Woman Contest. It was a thrilling day for students to celebrate reading with their families!

A special thanks to everyone who took the time to complete our Family Survey. We value your input and will use it to strengthen our home-school connection. Thank you for your support!

Students are busy reading in preparation for Read Write & Share Day. During our first week, students read a total of 401 books towards our schoolwide goal of 2,000. Also three lucky students -- one from each grade level -- who were "caught reading" won a stuffed gorilla and a gift certificate to our upcoming Book Fair Carnival. Congratulations, students!
